Terms of service
Last updated: 17 May 2026. Effective: launch day, 2026.
These are the terms between WhoCrawls Ltd ("WhoCrawls", "we", "us") and you (the person or company using the service). By signing up or using the free generator, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
WhoCrawls is operated from Camden, London, United Kingdom. Our governing law is England and Wales.
1. What WhoCrawls does
WhoCrawls is an analytics service for AI crawler activity on your website. We offer three tiers:
- Free: an anonymous llms.txt generator. Paste a domain, get a generated file. No account needed.
- Lite (£15 one-time): the generator plus 30 days of rolling crawler hit history on up to 3 domains.
- Pro (£9/month): the generator plus unlimited crawler hit history plus weekly digest emails plus a hosted llms.txt endpoint on up to 10 domains. A 7-day free trial is included.
The detailed feature list lives at whocrawls.com/pricing. We may add features. We won't remove features from your tier without 30 days' notice.
2. Account responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials secure.
- The accuracy of the domain you add (you must control it or have permission).
- Anything done under your account.
- Notifying us if you think your account has been accessed without your permission.
3. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Add domains you don't control.
- Use the free generator to scan more than 30 domains per hour from one IP (this is enforced at the edge).
- Reverse-engineer the snippet to falsify hit data.
- Attempt to access another customer's account or data.
- Use WhoCrawls to spam, attack, or otherwise harm other services.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates this section. We'll explain why and give you a chance to respond, unless the violation is severe (e.g. attacking our infrastructure).
4. Payment, refunds, and cancellation
Lite (£15 one-time). Charged once via Polar at purchase. Polar is the Merchant of Record (the seller on your statement and the party that handles sales tax / VAT). Includes 30 days of rolling history from the day you add your first domain.
Pro (£9/month). Charged monthly via Polar. The 7-day trial does not charge your card until the trial ends; you can cancel during the trial and pay nothing.
14-day money back (UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 + Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). If you bought Lite or your first month of Pro and changed your mind, email hello@whocrawls.com within 14 days of the charge and we'll refund in full, no questions. This right applies even if you've started using the service. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion.
Refund on incomplete setup. If you bought Lite but didn't add a domain within 14 days, you're still inside the 14-day money-back window above. Email hello@whocrawls.com (or use the billing portal) and we'll refund the charge through Polar and close the pending account.
Cancellation. Cancel Pro any time in account settings. Your subscription continues until the end of the current billing period; no further charges. Your data stays accessible for 14 days after the period ends, then is permanently deleted.
Failed payments (Pro). If Polar can't take the recurring charge, it retries per Polar's standard dunning schedule. After 21 days of failed retries, the account is suspended (data preserved). After 60 days, the account is closed and data is deleted.
Chargebacks. If you initiate a chargeback without first contacting us, we may close your account immediately. If you have a billing problem, email us. We're a one-person team and we will reply.
5. The service is provided "as is"
WhoCrawls is offered without warranty of any kind beyond what UK consumer law requires.
We aim for 99.5% uptime on the dashboard and hit-ingestion endpoint. We don't guarantee it. If we have an outage longer than 24 hours that affects your account, we'll credit a pro-rata refund on your Pro subscription, or extend your Lite rolling window by the duration of the outage.
We don't guarantee that every AI crawler hit on your site will be logged. Some bots skip JavaScript. Some hit endpoints we don't serve. The whole reason we offer both a snippet and a hosted endpoint is to catch as many as possible, but we don't claim 100%.
6. Data ownership
You own your domain list, your hit logs, and any account data. We process it on your behalf as a UK GDPR Article 28 processor. See our privacy policy for the full data treatment.
You can export your hit log as JSON any time from the dashboard, or email us for an export. We'll deliver within 7 days of request.
7. Our intellectual property
The WhoCrawls service, including the dashboard UI, the snippet code, the marketing site copy, the wordmark, and the generated share-card layout, is our intellectual property. You don't get a license to copy, redistribute, or rebrand it.
The llms.txt file we generate for you is your file. You own it. Use it however you want, including modifying it, hosting it yourself, and removing any WhoCrawls reference.
The watermark on the free-tier share card image must remain on that image if you redistribute it. Paid tiers receive an unwatermarked version that has no redistribution restriction.
8. Bot allowlist
We maintain the list of AI crawlers we track. Adding or removing a bot requires a code commit, not an API change. The current list lives at whocrawls.com/bots. We may add bots based on customer demand and published bot documentation. We may remove a bot only if its publisher has officially retired the user-agent.
9. Camden tech agency referrals
The dashboard footer includes a CTA pointing at the Camden tech agency intake form (currently a "Coming soon" placeholder). This is Zaki Qadus's separate consulting practice. It is not part of the WhoCrawls service. Engaging the agency is a separate contract.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WhoCrawls' total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid us in that period or (b) £100. This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law.
11. Termination
You can close your account any time from account settings or by emailing hello@whocrawls.com. We close within 7 days. Your data is preserved for 14 days after closure in case you change your mind, then permanently deleted.
We can terminate your account for material breach of these terms with 14 days' notice, unless the breach is unfixable or you've harmed our infrastructure (in which case immediate termination, with a refund for any unused subscription time).
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes get 30 days' notice via email to all paid customers. Minor changes (typos, clarifications) take effect immediately. The "last updated" date at the top of this page is authoritative.
If a change is material and you don't agree, you can cancel and we'll refund any unused subscription time.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute that isn't resolved by emailing us first will be heard by the courts of England and Wales.
If you're a UK or EU consumer, you also have access to the Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
